Prohealth: A quick guide to 7 popular toxin binders

Binders are frequently discussed in the Lyme community but few in the fibromyalgia community have heard of them. That’s really a shame because I think a lot of people with fibro would benefit. I believe I’ve read binders were instrumental in helping the Fibro Lady recover from fibromyalgia. I know cholestyramine and bentonite clay have been incredibly useful in my own healing journey.

  1. I just came across a completed research project that had extremely promising results for fibromyalgia pain….here’s the link, and be sure to look at the table that shows before and after treatment results!

It is a little technical, but what was really impressive was the huge amount of pain reduction (the site does have a diagram of pretreatment pain levels, then the pain levels with standard treatment of medications, and then treatment with metformin. The premise of this research was that the pain and other associated conditions of fibromyalgia are caused by insulin resistance that is not diabetes. It says the usual tests given for diabetes or insulin resistance isn’t specific enough.

SO GLAD I READ THIS! Have been wondering why so much pain this past week, and I just bet it’s the Roundup I sprayed around last week. I would still be guessing had you not shared your experience, Donna! Always appreciate your blogs.

I’m glad you were able to make that connection. Some of us actually have genetic mutations so that our bodies cannot properly process glyphosate. I found this out when I had my 23andme results read by a genetics practitioner, and was advised to avoid glyphosate as much as possible. I suspect glyphosate may be the cause of some of our flares with no obvious cause.

  3. You mentioned that bentonite and cholestyramine helped you heal. How did you use them? Thank you so much for your help with this and your very informative articles!

I use a binder once a day as ongoing maintenance. I try to use it in tandem w/ infrared sauna or coffee enemas to boost effectiveness, but some days I just use a binder on its own. I also use them whenever I’m having tummy problems. I’m planning to do an article soon on binders.
