Welcome to the new FedUpwithFatigue.com! Earlier this week, I launched a newly designed website. The web designer and I are still working out a few kinks, so please bear with us as we make the transition!
A lot has changed in my life since I launched FedUpwithFatigue.com back in March 2015. After five years, I felt it was time for a major redesign! In 2015, I was still early into my fibromyalgia diagnosis and hadn’t yet been diagnosed with Lyme disease. You’ll notice the new logo incorporates both fibromyalgia (the butterfly) AND Lyme (the tick).
Even though Fed Up with Fatigue has a fresh, new look, the purpose of my site and its content is not changing. As always, I am committed to sharing the latest research, treatments and other information to help you live better with fibromyalgia and Lyme!
I hope you’ll find the new site easier to read, navigate and enjoy! And now onto this week’s news…
Practical Pain Management: Fibromyalgia as a neuropathic pain disorder | The link to small fiber neuropathy
From the article: “Rather than debating whether fibromyalgia is primarily a central or neuropathic pain disorder, clinicians may benefit more from understanding that these pain categories intersect and overlap (see Figure 1). There are countless examples where peripheral pain, such as related to knee or hip osteoarthritis, gradually morphs into a generalized or centralized pain.”
From the article: “Our method, known as Lyme PrEP, delivers a single anti-Lyme antibody directly to a person rather than triggering the patient’s own immune system to make many antibodies as vaccines do. It is designed to be a seasonal shot that people can get once a year before tick season begins.”
Prohealth.com: How ultrasound therapy can help people with chronic pain
From the article: “Therapeutic ultrasound has helped me greatly not only in managing, but reversing, my chronic muscle stiffness and pain associated with chronic illness. I think many other people struggling with chronic illness-induced musculoskeletal problems could also benefit from this simple, quick, and effective modality as part of fibromyalgia or Lyme disease treatment.”
From the article: “When the bacteria attacks the heart, it’s called Lyme carditis. That can result in abnormalities to the heart’s rhythm in a small group of people, according to the authors of an article published Monday in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. That was the case with Samuel, whose story was outlined in the journal. Though his family lives in a remote and wooded area of Manitoba and he had spent time outdoors, he didn’t believe he had been bitten by a tick.”
Irene Lyon: Can I heal if I’m living in a toxic environment? (YouTube video, 27 minutes)
From the video description: “In this vlog, I break down some of the steps one can take to build internal capacity so that an unsafe and toxic environment can hold less of a grip on one’s nervous system. I also touch into working with our boundaries, and the importance of using our intention and energy to break out of old patterns of stuckness and victim identification.”
And an extra…
Health Rising: Narrowed small blood vessels linked to fatigue in ME/CFS
For my fibromyalgia readers: This study is specific to chronic fatigue syndrome, but is also relevant to fibromyalgia since they are considered to be sister conditions.
From the article: “This study tackles one of the most intriguing possibilities in ME/CFS – impaired circulation. ME/CFS has been thought of as an immune disease, a hormonal disease, and a metabolic disorder, and indeed it seems to have aspects of all of these, but what about ME/CFS as a cardiovascular disorder? What quicker way to impair energy than to inhibit the flow of oxygen-rich blood through the small blood vessels?”
