Jan. 5, 2018 #fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue & #Lyme news | Fed Up with Fatigue

1.

CNN.com: 2017 – The year Americans couldn’t say Gal Gadot (and a lot of other words)

Fibromyalgia made 2017’s top 10 list of most mispronounced words.

2.

Pain News Network: Most cannabidiol [CBD] oils sold online are mislabeled

Buyer beware for those who use hemp CBD oil. From the article: “…a new study published in JAMA has found that nearly 70 percent of all cannabidiol (CBD) products sold online are either over or under-labeled.”

3.

Buzzfeed News: A controversial therapy for ME has led to claims of death threats, harassment and pseudoscience

From the article: “[Lightning Process] practitioners are keen to say it’s not a treatment but a training, and – in some cases – it has apparently removed the symptoms of CFS/ME altogether.”

4.

Living with Fibromyalgia: How U.S. tax reform affects patients with chronic illness

Worried about the recently passed tax reform bill? Here’s what you need to know…

5.

Pain News Network: Lyrica [pregabalin] and Neurontin [gabapentin] use triples

From the article: “We believe… that gabapentinoids are being prescribed excessively — partly in response to the opioid epidemic,” Christopher Goodman, MD, and Allan Brett, MD, recently wrote in a commentary published in The New England Journal of Medicine. “We suspect that clinicians who are desperate for alternatives to opioids have lowered their threshold for prescribing gabapentinoids to patients with various types of acute, subacute and chronic noncancer pain.”

And a few extras…

I’ve got a backlog of articles that I wanted to share with you guys, so I’m going to post a few extras this week!

Prohealth: Lyme disease physicians’ protocols

This is a really nice summary of how some of the top docs in the U.S. treat chronic Lyme.

Sassy Holistics: How rebounding can help you bounce back to health

Kristen from Sassy Holistics covers the many health benefits of jumping on a mini trampoline, also known as rebounding. If rebounding is too intense of an activity, I’ve read that it’s also beneficial to gently bounce on one of those inflatable exercise balls.

Sophia Health Institute: Testing for heavy metals

The conventional medical world hardly ever mentions heavy metals exposure; however, elevated levels of heavy metals in the body (from amalgam fillings, eating seafood, using aluminum cookware, geoengineering, etc.) can cause symptoms that mimic fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. Heavy metals can also exasperate chronic Lyme infection. This article gives a good overview on the best testing to find out if you might be affected by heavy metals exposure. I’ve personally had a urine challenge test and a hair mineral test, and they showed I have elevated levels of aluminum, mercury, titanium and others. 🙁

Attention medical cannabis users…

High Times: Jeff Sessions’ anti-pot federal crackdown is in full force

This news broke yesterday. There seems to be divided opinions on whether this could be the end of cannabis legalization at the state level or if it’s just another bluff from Sessions.

January challenge…

TheMighty.com: Keeping a health diary

TheMighty.com is challenging its readers to start a health diary this month. To help you get started, they’ve created a free printable health tracker and a digital spreadsheet.

When you’re speaking of pot use and Sessions bluffing, you do know the difference between recreational and medicinal, right? People are not that stupid.

Of course I know the difference between recreational and medicinal, but ALL of it is illegal, according to federal law. Sessions’ memo restores the ability of U.S. attorneys to pursue legal action against those who grow/sell/use cannabis. He does not differentiate between recreational and medicinal in his memo. There is a law in place right now that prohibits going after medical marijuana but that provision ends soon unless congress re-approves it. So, when that expires, if it’s not reinstated, medicinal marijuana could be a target too.
