LymeHope: CDC says it’s possible to pass Lyme from mother-to-fetus

This is big news in the Lyme world! The CDC has finally updated its website to indicate Lyme can be passed from a mother to her unborn child.

Fibromyalgia News Today: Pain perception in fibromyalgia linked to reduced brain activity in primary motor cortex, study finds

From the article: “[Fibromyalgia] patients overall had reduced activity in the motor cortex compared to controls, especially during the fast-tapping task. Even when resting, people with FM showed a trend toward lower hemoglobin levels in this area of the brain than healthy controls.”

LymeDisease.org: Cigna is third insurer to reach settlement in Lyme disease lawsuit

This is the latest on a federal lawsuit filed by Lyme patients against members of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and several insurance companies.

Pain News Network: Fentanyl ‘primary driver’ of overdose crisis, says DEA

From the article: “The DEA predicts ‘a steady decrease’ in the supply of opioids over the next several years and that prescription drug abusers ‘may shift to abusing heroin, illicitly produced synthetic opioids, and methamphetamine to obtain similar effects, which may further increase overdose deaths through at least 2020.’”
