I received free product in exchange for this The Fay Farm Serenity CBD Lotion review. I received no financial compensation. All opinions are my own.

The Fay Farm Serenity CBD Lotion contains magnesium, essential oils and other natural ingredients to calm anxiety and ease pain.

The Fay Farm Serenity CBD Lotion review

A couple of months ago, my friend Julie over at Counting My Spoons introduced me to The Fay Farm’s Healing CBD Hemp Lotion, and it quickly became my go-to body moisturizer. (You can read my Healing CBD Hemp Lotion review here.) It’s ultra moisturizing, smells great and contains natural ingredients. The CBD helps my fibromyalgia pain. I thought it couldn’t get better.

I was wrong. There is a new love in my life: The Fay Farm Serenity CBD Lotion.

The Fay Farm took all of the things that I loved about the original CBD lotion and made it even better by adding magnesium oil and calming essential oils. I’ve taken magnesium supplements and used magnesium-based lotions for years. (In fact, they both made my recent list of favorite fibro products!) Magnesium is one of the only things that consistently helps my fibromyalgia pain, and in recent months, I’ve been slathering my feet with magnesium lotion every night to stop the burning and tingling from neuropathy. When I was trying Fay Farm’s original CBD lotion, I mentioned to co-owner Michael Yocco that mixing his CBD lotion with my magnesium lotion really took the fire out of my feet. My friend Julie had the same results. I think our feedback helped inspire the new Serenity lotion.

The magnesium oil in the Serenity lotion gives a little extra umpf to the pain-relieving benefits of the CBD. It’s good stuff, and I’m reaching for it every night as part of my bedtime routine. Michael says people are also using it to quell fussy babies and anxiety over air travel.

Serenity’s fragrance is much softer than the original CBD lotion. I’m not a huge user of aromatherapy products, but I do find the scent of the Serenity lotion soothing and relaxing. The Fay Farm chose a combination of lavender, copaiba (a wood resin), frankincense and bergamot essential oils because of their calming properties.

The lotion is very thick – so thick that it’s probably best to store the smaller 2-ounce bottles upside down to aid in dispensing the product. The larger 8-ounce bottles come with a handy pump dispenser.

The Fay Farm specializes in natural body care products. From their five-acre farm on Whidbey Island, near Seattle, Washington, Stacy, Michael and their daughters raise Nubian goats for milk and grow herbs to use in their handmade, organic hemp-based products.

The Fay Farm’s products contain hemp CBD oil, which is high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and known for reducing inflammation. The 8-ounce bottles contain 200 mg of CBD oil, and the 2-ounce bottles contain 50 mg.  All products are free from parabens, alcohol, mineral oil and phthalates. In 2014, The Fay Farm began adding CBD to some of its products to provide improved relief from pain, neuropathy, eczema, psoriasis and other conditions.

A little about CBD products

In recent years, CBD-rich products have received media attention as potential treatments for epilepsy, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, neuropathy and other conditions. While the research is still pretty scant, it’s not uncommon these days to hear fibromyalgia sufferers praise CBD’s benefits.

CBD is one of more than 85 cannabinoids that make up the cannabis plant. Most people are familiar with CBD’s close family member, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid that gives marijuana users a pleasant (at least to some people) high when they smoke it.

Unlike THC, CBD doesn’t have psychoactive qualities (i.e. it won’t make you high) and will not show up on a drug test. CBD-rich products are an alternative for people who are seeking the medicinal benefits of cannabis, but who gave up smoking pot when they graduated college (or never used it in the first place).

The CBD contained within Fay Farm’s products comes from hemp stalks. Hemp body care products are legal in the U.S.

Donna, thanks for this review. I ordered some after I read it – last month, I think – and the results have been startling. I have that fibro-related neuropathy in both feet too (Fire!!!!), arthritis in both shoulders that hurts down to my elbows, sciatica, and the “everyday” fibro pain that feels like a river of ache through my bloodstream. I had noticed already that copaiba oil was very helpful, and I’d been using it in a diffuser and in roller bottles mixed with other oils; this lotion, with the CBD oil and the magnesium, really seems to increase the effects of all three. I haven’t had much pain at all since I started using it. I don’t perceive much of a scent besides the CDB oil, but oh my gosh, does it work. SO glad I saw this review!

I’m so glad it’s helping, Laine! I love the Serenity lotion. Still use it every single day!

I got a bottle after seeing this article & wanted to give it a try. It works great but it’s too expensive to get all the time. I have arthritis in my hands and it was hard to squeeze out. I think I’ll make a suggestion there.

    • Donna Gregory/FedUpwithFatigue.com says:

I’m glad you liked it. It is a nice treat! I’m sure they will appreciate the feedback on their bottles.

  3. I’ve had great results with this lotion, too. The nights that I forget to put it on, I can tell the next morning because I’ve had a bad night of sleep and I’m achy in my joints.

    • Donna Gregory/FedUpwithFatigue.com says:

I’m obsessed w/ it. I used another lotion the other night b/c I wanted to save the Serenity for nights when I’m having more pain, and I had to get up after about an hour and put some on my arms and shoulders. Something about the smell of it is very calming to me.

  4. Great review Donna! I have tried Fay Farms in the past and really liked their products. I’m really considering this lotion, especially because of the magneseum added! Been reading about that and it sounds promising! Thanks for partying @ chronicfridaylinkup! Pinned/Shared/Tweeted

Howdy Donna! I have to agree with your assessment of The Fay Farm’s CBD products. I tried the samples they sent, and was pleasantly surprised. They both helped with different things- the lotion has helped me with intense itching from neuropathy thanks to chemo, and the muscle rub helped with those stubborn deep aches that no amount of medication ever touched. Since then, I have ordered both the Healing CBD Hemp Lotion and the Warming CBD Muscle Rub. The only drawback I can find is the price. But then again, I believe that in most instances, you get what you pay for. Thank you Donna, for pointing in the direction of The Fay Farm!

So glad the Fay Farm products are helping you! I’m loving the new lotion.

  6. Kathleen says:

Thank you for the review of Fay Farm CBD lotion. I especially like the info on the Serenity lotion because of the addition of magnesium and essential oils. I have been a big fan of using Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil for leg pain and cramps for many years but this lotion with CBD and essential oils PLUS magnesium sounds awesome. Thanks also for passing along the code for a 10% discount to try the product. Just ordered it and can’t wait to try it. So glad I found your website.

    • Donna Gregory/FedUpwithFatigue.com says:

I hope you like it! Once you’ve tried it, come back and give us a review! 🙂

Donna, I’m really grateful for your website. I have lived with Fibromyalgia, CFS for 21 years and have tried stuff and basically very little helped. Except for magnesium supplementation. I was recently hospitalized for pancreatitis and chronic cystitis. I just ordered the Serenity Lotion from Fay Farms and can’t wait to try it. I have read some internet stuff about a correlation between fibromyalgia and pancreatitis. That was a relief because the hospital labeled me an alcoholic even when I told them I drank moderately. so I find your website something that can offer me some self-esteem and hope.

I’m so glad you’re finding my site useful! Comments like yours keep me motivated to keep going!

  8. Renny says:

I read your article before and sent away for these products. They’re very small amounts for a lot of money, the lotion is so thick and the neck of the bottle so small I have a hard time getting it out of the bottle. And…unfortunately after all is said and done it didn’t work for me. Very disappointed.

    • Donna Gregory/FedUpwithFatigue.com says:

Hi Renny, I’m so sorry it didn’t work for you. As you know, what works for one of us w/ fibro doesn’t necessarily work for others. That’s one of the most frustrating things about this condition. Fay Farm’s owners are extremely open to feedback about their products, so maybe it would be a good idea to email them and share your experience w/ them.
