Amy’s Chapter: Why many chronically ill & disabled people feel let down by society right now

From the article: “I can spend months upon months without leaving my home. That is being house bound. So now, to hear healthy people moan constantly about how bored they are being ‘isolated’ and stuck in the house when they are still working, from home, can still go out to exercise, are catching up on odd jobs around the home, well it’s a little too much to bear. And yet I get it. Freedom has been taken away. I live it and therefore I empathise. I just wish the same empathy could perhaps be offered in my direction and to those in my community.”

3.

Newsweek: Lyme disease circa 1989

I ran across this Newsweek article about Lyme disease from 1989 on Facebook and am amazed by how much the experts admitted back then compared to now. It’s sad to see how we actually regressed over 30 years.

4.

Physician’s Weekly: Prevalence of underlying health conditions in COVID-19 infections — United States

There’s actually not much to this article other than the chart, but I thought it was interesting that they’re tracking people with fibromyalgia who get COVID-19. I’ve seen a lot of people wonder if fibro would be considered an underlying health issue, and this chart suggests that it may be.

Global Lyme Alliance: COVID-10 and Lyme disease | Parallel pandemics

From the article: “Believe it or not, two infectious diseases from which interesting parallels can be drawn are COVID-19 and Lyme disease. Both began as sporadic, clusters of disease, referring to an aggregation of cases grouped in place and time that are suspected to be greater than the number expected. … Both rapidly evolved to become hyperendemic, characterized by persistent, high levels of disease occurrence.”

LDN and COVID-19…

Do you take low-dose naltrexone and have been diagnosed with COVID-19? If so, Dr. Jarred Younger from the Neuroinflammation, Pain and Fatigue Laboratory at University of Alabama Birmingham would like to know how severe your symptoms have been and how long they lasted. Please email him this information at youngerlab@uab.edu. He says he may not be able to respond back to every email he receives, but he will read all of them.

(Dr. Younger is the researcher who previously did the two LDN/fibromyalgia studies at Stanford University so he has an avid interest in how LDN works.)
