My email inbox has been flooded the past couple of days with Black Friday sales, so I thought I’d share a few of the deals that are relevant for those of us with fibromyalgia, chronic Lyme and similar illnesses.
If you happen to see other deals online that might be useful for those with chronic illness, feel free to share them in the comments section below.
I will be adding more sales to this post as I find them!
Until them, in no particular order…

Frida Botanicals
Frida Botanicals is offering 20% off its entire online store through Monday, Nov. 30, including its hemp CBD tinctures, specialty tonics and muscle balm with the code SSE20 at checkout.
If you spend $100 or more, you’ll receive a FREE tube of magnesium cream.
In case you’ve never heard of Frida Botanicals, the company was founded a couple of years ago by Dr. Ginevra Liptan, a fibromyalgia specialist who also lives with fibromyalgia herself. Because of this, I trust Dr. Liptan to put out high-quality products that actually work for fibro!
By the way, if you’re interested in learning about how Dr. Liptan approaches treating fibromyalgia, I highly recommend her book, “The Fibro Manual.” I consider “The Fibro Manual” to be required reading for everyone with fibromyalgia. It’s the best fibro book on the market, in my opinion.
You can read my previous Q & A interview with Dr. Liptan here!

Resonant Botanicals
If you’ve been with me for more than a few months, then you know how obsessed I am with Resonant Botanicals’ pain-relieving lotions and creams. I don’t believe there’s ever been one that I don’t love!
For Black Friday only, Resonant is offering 25% off sitewide with the code BLACKFRIDAY2020 at checkout.
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite but if I was going to be stranded on a desert island and could only take two Resonant Botanicals’ products, I would pick Painless X (for general pain) and Neuro-Soothe (for nerve-related pain).
I’ve reviewed a number of Resonant’s products over the years. You can read those reviews at the links below:
- Painless X review
- Neuro-Soothe review
- Painless PM
- Painless (formerly called Invigorate)
- Calm Day (formerly called Qi of Calm)
Vitacost
Vitacost is one of my go-to websites to save money on natural products and supplements.
Use the code 50FRIDAY through Sunday, Nov. 29, at 5 a.m. ET, to receive $10 off a $50 order. You can stack that discount with more than 150 additional sales throughout the site.
If you’re not familiar with Vitacost, you can watch two of my past Vitacost product hauls here and here.
You might notice that Vitacost’s prices are competitive with Amazon. In many cases, Amazon and Vitacost sell products for the very same price. However, once you apply Vitacost’s generous discounts, they beat Amazon nearly every time!
You can also get cash back on your Vitacost order if you go through Rakuten (formerly Ebates).
Misfits Market
Looking to save money on your grocery bill? Misfits Market sells fresh, organic produce at deep discounts. The only catch is that it’s not perfect like those shiny blemish-free apples and oranges that cost a small car payment at the grocery store.
“We source high-quality organic produce that has a few quirks – onions that are too small, potatoes that are shaped like your favorite celebrity and carrots that fell in love and got twisted together,” reads Misfits Market’s website. “It may sound like a joke, but billions of pounds of this fresh and delicious food is tossed each year because grocery stores only want ‘perfect’ foods on their shelves. We step in and buy this food from hundreds of farms across the country and bring them to your doorstep, saving you money and helping you save the world.”
Through Monday, Nov. 30, take 50% off your first subscription box with the code FRIDAY50 at checkout.

Any suggestions for someone like me and others who have been given different diagnoses by different doctors. I have been told that I have CFS by one, Fibromyalgia by another, possible Lyme from childhood, and plain old “chronic pain syndrome”. I asked one specialist about it and was told it didn’t really matter…” they’re all the same thing.” Medicare won’t pay for the more specific and pricey tests that might give me a specific answer/diagnosis. Also, does it really matter in terms of treatment protocol? My doctors treat presenting symptoms. Would it be different with the correct “label?” Any thoughts? Love your blog!
Hi Linda, I guess I see it from both perspectives. I can see what the doctor means when he says “it’s all the same thing.” Symptom-wise, he is correct. And from a conventional medicine treatment perspective, he is correct. CFS, fibro and Lyme are all going to be treated the same by a conventional doctor … basically, they just give drugs to try to cover up the symptoms and maybe suggest exercise and/or meditation or yoga or that sort of thing to deal w/ stress.
However, if you’re REALLY going to treat these conditions, you cannot and should not consider them to be the “same thing.” Lyme is a distinct bacterial infection that should be treated w/ prescription or herbal antibiotics. If you’ve got Lyme, and you get proper treatment, then you can recover and get your life back. I would try to rule out Lyme if you can. The best way to do that is through an iGenex western blot or the company’s new immunoblot test. And good news!!!! Medicare will reimburse for iGenex testing! I wouldn’t waste your time on the standard Lyme testing b/c that testing only picks up around 50% of Lyme infections. It’s near impossible to get a positive result (even if you do indeed have Lyme) using standard testing once the bacteria has gone chronic.
Let me provide some resources for you. I’d suggest starting by filling out this questionnaire: http://www.lymeactionnetwork.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/MSIDS.pdf The questionnaire was developed by one of the nation’s top Lyme doctors and has been validated by a research study to be a good tool for helping to diagnose Lyme. Many Lyme specialists use it to help diagnose and also track symptoms during treatment. If you score high, then the chances are pretty good that you have an undiagnosed Lyme infection. You’d definitely want to do the iGenex testing at that point and see a Lyme specialist. Here’s a link to an article that I wrote shortly after my own Lyme diagnose that will take you through the steps of being properly evaluated/diagnosed with Lyme: https://fedupwithfatigue.com/lyme-disease-and-fibromyalgia/
As for fibro and CFS, the treatment for those is much more murky. If at all possible, I always highly recommend trying to find a physician who practices functional medicine or integrative medicine b/c the conventional model of drugs and exercise isn’t going to get you to recovery. See article: https://fedupwithfatigue.com/fibromyalgia-doctors/
You really have to go deeper w/ treatment, addressing diet, stress, movement, nervous system dysregulation, etc. (Lyme is the same way, but there’s the extra element of treating the infections.) A good starting point is Dr. Ginevra Liptan’s book, “The Fibro Manual.” Dr. Liptan is a fibro specialist who also has fibro, so she understands fibro in a way that most doctors don’t. She also wrote the book so that if you have an open minded conventional doctor, you and him/her can use the book as a guide for treatment. Here’s a link to the book: https://amzn.to/3qf8SmM
Another good book is this one from Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum: https://amzn.to/3lo8L4G
With those two books, you’ll be further along the path of healing fibro than probably 80% of people w/ fibro and/or CFS. Hope this helps. Happy to answer questions. If it’s something personal, you can email me at donna@fedupwithfatigue.com
