June 27, 2016 fibromyalgia and ME/CFS news

The longer I live with chronic illness, the less faith I have in our medical system. Last week, I received lab results from my first round of blood work ordered by my new Lyme doctors. Their findings? My immune system is compromised, according to at least two of the immune function tests they ordered. In addition to Lyme, my body is fighting several other tick-borne co-infections. Epstein Barr virus also made an appearance, although my doctors say it's not currently active. It's no wonder I've been exhausted and in pain for years. My body has to be weary from fighting all those … [Read more...]

This article on "5 Unusual Things to Improve Sleep" first published on NationalPainReport.com. It is being republished here with permission from the editor.  (This post contains affiliate links.) Nonrestorative sleep is one of the primary symptoms of fibromyalgia. But words like “nonrestorative” and “unrefreshing” don’t adequately describe fibromyalgia sleep. Instead, I like to reference one of my hubby’s favorite TV shows when I try to explain to healthy people what I feel like when I wake up in the morning. I call it “The Walking Dead” kind of tired. If you’ve ever watched the … [Read more...]

It didn’t make sense to me that one day my body just decided to go haywire for no reason. I’ve always believed there must be an underlying cause for my fibromyalgia symptoms. Pain is a signal that something is wrong in the body. So is fatigue and the compendium of other symptoms associated with fibromyalgia. Once my doctors labeled me with fibromyalgia, they stopped … [Read more...]

Environmental Detox: The Missing Link to Treating Chronic Pain Naturally?

Editor's note: Those of us with fibromyalgia or ME/CFS are notoriously sensitive to everything ... smells, lights, noises, medications, supplements, specific foods ... and the list goes on and on.  I've taken steps over the past few years to limit my exposure to certain toxins. I replaced most of my harsh cleaners with more natural ones like vinegar and baking soda. I've cut out fast food, junk food, sodas and pretty much anything with ingredients that I don't understand. I went gluten free six months ago and am trying to get motivated to cut dairy. Despite these changes, I'm still … [Read more...]
